Supplies Needed:
Mini Plastic Eggs : General supply
Doodlebug : White tree, jewels
Mark Richards : Jewel embellishments
Basic Grey : Bling it
Bazzill : Cardstock, jewels
Oh My Crafts Vinyl : Pink, Blue, Green Metal flake
Ink : Distress Ink – Milled Lavender
Sizzix : Big Shot, Emboss folder
Provo Craft : Cricut Expression, Easter 2010 mini cartridge – retired (many cartridges have these same elements)
Tattered Angels : Tweezers
Ribbon : Assorted scraps
Eggs:
1. Select about 8 inches of ribbon (can all be the same color or choose 3 or 4 colors), fold in half and insert ribbon through the hole from the top. Tweezers help to pull the ribbon through the hole. Knot ends.
2. Close egg and decorate with jewels or vinyl cutouts.
Vinyl:
1. Using small scraps of metal flake vinyl cut out desired vinyl shapes to attach to eggs. Hint: bows, rickrack and words: Spring, Happy Easter – all work well for decorating eggs.
2. Cutting chart:
Cartridge | Object | Size | Speed | Pressure | Blade depth |
Easter mini | Bow, rick rack, phrase, | 3/4 inch | Medium | Low | 4 |
TIP - Hide seam of eggs by covering with stickers or vinyl.
Base:
1. Cut 4 squares of light purple cardstock 4 ¾ x 4 ¾”, set aside
2. Cut 4 squares of light lavender cardstock 4 ¼ x 4 ¼”.
3. Ink both insides of embossing folder with water based light purple ink. Repeat inking before each embossing.
4. Center the light lavender square in between the inked embossing folder (some kind of dot large or small) and emboss. Repeat with all squares. Using permanent adhesive, adhere the inked lavender squares to the light purple squares.
5. Next, place repositionable adhesive on the backside of light purple square and attach to base of tree. (By using repositionable adhesive, you can easily remove squares and decorate the tree for another holiday.)
6. Save a few eggs to place around bottom of tree with crumpled tissue paper or Easter grass.

Aww, how cute. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteCute tree. My daughter has a PINK Christmas tree. I think I will borrow hers and do this tree! Thanks for the suggestion!
ReplyDeleteHow cute. I have had an Easter egg Tree since I was 5 years old. Now I'm passing that onto my kids although they wonder why we have a Christmas tree up til May. They joked I was going to decorate it for Mother's Day next.
ReplyDeleteOMGosh, that is one of the cutest things ever!! Great choice on the iridescent eggs, then covering the seems, just love the overall look!
ReplyDeleteHow cute! I can't wait to do this with my little ones! They'll have a blast. I have a fake 4 foot pine tree in our livingroom.... I am attached to this thing, lol. So I decided we will decorate it every holiday, not just christmas. A fun and funky tradition that I am starting with the kids. Something wacky they can remember from childhood. But hopefully fondly, lol.
