Happy crafting!
I am making a "Memory" scrapbook for a co-worker who is leaving to move to another state. He is originally from the Czech Republic and grew up there under Soviet rule. He came to America at the age of 30 and is now a US citizen. This exemplifies what our service people really do -- they make our country a free place and an opportunity for those that want to be a part of that!

ReplyDeleteMy cousin John gave his life saving a fellow soldier during combat in Vietnam in April of 1970. He received the Distinguished service cross for his bravery in combat. I am putting together a page to memorialize his great sacrafice for our country and our freedoms. I am extremely proud of his service as I am of all the men and women in my family who are currently active and have served. My husband also will get a page this weekend for his service in the Air Force. He served 5 tours overseas in wartime and is a hero to his daughter and I. I celebrate this holiday with pride and love.

I'm working on my first scrap book honoring my father who served in the Navy during WWII. He just came back from an "honors" tour of Washington DC sponsored by other veterans and I understand they treated the vets like royalty as they should. From his pictures and his itinerary, I'm trying to recreate his trip as a surprise for Father's Day.
ReplyDeleteFor the first time, I am taking time to scrapbook for every person in our family who has served in the military. After doing some research, I was AMAZED to see how many family members past and present who have served. None of them died during war, but just signing your name on that line to join the military is volunteering to do so with honor. I'll be putting all my nifty tools to good use this weekend. :)
ReplyDeleteMy daughter has CIF track finals and a scocer tournament this weekend. But in between I'll be working on a Father's Day card (my Dad is also a vet), a sympathy card for a friend who just lost her Dad, and a Memorial Day/Patriotic home decor piece. For me, this is the time of the year whrn I change the decor in our kitchen/house to red, white, and blue. Thanks for some fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm making scrapbook pages for my hubs family. His granddad (WWII) and great granddad (Civil War) were all in the service. I have great pics to work with!!!
