  1. The best back to school memory, is the week before school, I was trying to get my son back into a routine. All was going well until the day before school, when I was woken up by the weather channel blasting at 3 am, and when I went to investigate, there was my 7 year old, completely dress including shoes and jacket, lunch kit in hand and waiting for me to take him to school. "we can't be late for school mom, we will get detention", I still laugh everytime back to school happens Darlene in Port Moody, BC Canada:)

  2. ...Not a great memory, but a funny one! I was starting my Jr. year in highschool and my boyfriend came by so we could walk over to school together. We lived 1 little block away from my school. The day before I had decided to cut my hair, I often cut my own hair, and when I opened the door to greet my dear sweet bf, rather than being greeted with "Love the haircut" or even "Did you do something new with your hair?" I got a long pause followed by"...Ew. You look like your mom." Yeah. That was a great set up for the school year....

  3. Oh how sad back to school makes me! I guess I'm different from other moms who can't wait for back to school? I love my boy's and miss them so much when they go back to school! I do love to scrap about it though, and I do get passed the sadness!!!!!LOL!!!!!

  4. How could I not look forward to going back to school every year. I was lucky to be able to cross the oceans (even if it was by plane) at the end of each year and travel back when school re opened.

The journey itself was a story by itself.

To this day I dream of going back to school and being with my friends. And that is saying a lot since I am a 30 year old mother of two. :D.

  5. One of our traditions is to snap that "First Day of School" photo on our front porch step or near the tree in our front yard. It's great to look back and see how much they've grown!

  7. Every year before I send my kids off to school I make them stand in the same spot in front of the Fireplace. Its a tradition! No matter how many pages of scrapbooking I am backed up, I love to scrap these. I love to compare them and see how much they have changed from the previous year and years before! This year was bittersweet for my son...he's a Senior...I told him next year I would make him stand there one last time before he leaves for college! I cried!

  8. A tradition I do with my girls is specific photos. We take a photo on the porch of them and then them with their bags. Then a photo with dad and a photo with mom. We also try to have something special for first day of school breakfast. This year I made muffins.

  9. Every year on the first day of school my little brother and I would come home to a porch full of goodies. My gifts were always on the right side and his on the left. These gifts were little things like jump ropes, cards, paints, a barbie or care bear for me and trucks and cars for my brother. It is such a great memory, one I have started with my 2 boys and they love it just a much as we did.

  11. I remember the year the bus never made it to pick up the kids on our street. We waited and waited and waited. I finally took them all to schooL!

  12. I started my own back to school tradition when my son started kindergarten; I stayed in preschool! I got to know the staff and families the 2 years he was in preschool I just decided to take the part time aide position that was offered and I love every minute of it! Can't beat the hours either :)

  13. Ha ha...I remember every year I tried to reinvent myself (mostly unsuccessfully). I love that now though. I was just trying to find my place in the world...and luckily, it gets easier the longer I've been out of school! :)

  14. Love those LOs!!! Every year when I take pictures of the kids, it's in front of some bushes by the driveway. It's a nice back drop of nature and part of our neighborhood. After I drop themoff for school or watch them drive off on the bus, I get a bit teary eyed and depressed. I like hanging out w/my kids and miss them. But that mornings hot coffee seems to be a littel sweeter then other days! For dinner on the last day of the first week of school we have pizza!

  15. I was sure I left a comment yesterday but don't see it anywhere. The layout is adorable. I like the bright back to school colors. My back to school memory was hanging out after school with the custodians. My mother was a teacher where I went to school so I would stay after with her and go hang out with them while they worked. They were so nice and worked so hard. Let's hear it for our custodians.

  16. I take pics of my kiddos with their loot backpack and all before the big day and then the day of I take a pic of each of them in the doorway before they go out the door. But that first pic is a nogo in high school. All they want is a backpack and a notebook lol.
