Speaking of My Mind's Eye projects...

Monday, March 29, 2010

If you've been on our Facebook fanpage today, then you're probably well aware of the contest going on! No? Well, we want to see what you've done with your My Mind's Eye stuff lately. And to enter you just have to send a picture of your recent My Mind's Eye project to lana @ ohmycrafts . com, along with a few details on what you used, how you did it, and so on. And three select winners will receive awesome stuff from the one of the Lush collections!

Well, as luck would have it, our designer Lindsey has been up to a little somethin' with Life Story (#1). What are the odds?

Too bad for her—she can't be part of the competition.

But we're showing off her card loud and proud today anyway, in spirit of the contest and all. Oh, and that gorgeous embellishment front and center (okay, more like slightly off-center, which is an awesome design technique) is from the Prima, the Ameruse Duchess Mix.

Isn't it breathtaking?

Happy Monday! And happy crafting! And happy contesting! And happy Spring! And.....

You get the idea.

10 days 'til Easter!

Thursday, March 25, 2010

Easter is a great holiday. First of all, there's Cadbury Mini's. Furthermore, when else can you craft to the tune of gorgeous spring flowers, beautiful pastel color schemes and darling little chicks and bunnies? Oh, and then wicker baskets. Those are great for, well, everything!

And we could probably go on all day about coloring Easter eggs and egg hunts.

However, instead we'll focus on some lovely Easter projects we rounded up while perusing through some of our favorite blogs and sites. Get a load of this darling Easter project we found on the Fancy Pants site:

This one features an oldie but a goodie from the Basic Grey site, Eva:

And this darling Cricut card uses Doodlecharms and Walk in My Garden:

And finally, take a look at this ingenious Easter bucket, made by our creative director, Sandy Cottle, using Oh My Vinyl.

So that's all for today, friends.

Happy Spring and Easter-preparing!

Where's the craft bus today?

Tuesday, March 23, 2010

Today several members of the OMC staff are hanging out with friends in Spokane, Washington for the bus tour shin dig that we've been raving about nonstop. Word is they're having a grand time scrapping their hearts out. And yesterday the bus toodled around Tacoma, teaching this cutesy mini album and these home decor projects:

(If these lovely home decor projects look familiar to you, it's because they are! It's the Quick Quotes project kit that we worked on during our New England / Canada cruise this past fall. And we loved it so much that we decided to bring it to our Tacoma peeps!)

Which one is YOUR fave?

And you may recall from a few weeks ago—when we showcased some stunning pictures of the warehouse we said goodbye to—we also gave you a sneak peek at one of the projects they're working on this very minute! 'Member? Those stunning Sizzix boxes made with Graphic 45's Le Romantique?? Well here's the tags that go with 'em. Striking, aren't they?

Which one is YOUR fave?

And that's just one of the classes. They'll also be teaching the techniques used to make these fun cards:

And of course, Stacy Julian is there also! Here's the cute postcards that she's instructing in her class:

Isn't it all so wonderful? We'll be sure to hook you up with some awesome footage of these fun events once they're through.

Where will the bus be headed next? Redding, CA! And friends there will get the chance to work on the mini album and fun cards showcased above.

Wanna know when the bus will be headed your way? Take a gander here.

Happy crafting!

Some luscious looks with Lush! (and more!)

Thursday, March 18, 2010

************************Contest is closed************************

If you haven't had the chance to browse through some of the newest collections available from My Mind's Eye, you're really missing out! There's some really great material. And we're happy to show you some today—with project instructions!

This first project we're especially excited to show you, because not only is it a gorgeous layout, but it was designed by our super-cool friend Trisha Ladouceur, who hung out with us for BOTH our Alaskan and New England cruises. And we think she's just great. (Check out her awesome blog here. And learn her tips on Glimmer Mist on our Youtube channel here.)

Here's her page, using Black Lush.

Here's the supplies you'll need:
• 1 Lush Black Checkers paper (12" x 12"
• 1 Lush Black Finch paper (11 1/2" x 11 1/2")
• 1 Lush Black Floral paper (2" x 6" and 2" x 4" triangles)
• 1 Lush Black Tile paper (2" x 6" and 2" x 4" triangles)
• 1 Lush Black Flocked Alphabet
• 1 Lush Black Ribbon
• 1 Lush Black Decorative Brads
Also used: sewing machine, black thread

Instructions:
• Trim Finch to 11 1/2" x 11 1/2"
• Cut out a 3 1/2" x 5" rectangle about 1 1/2" down from top and 1 1/2" in from left on Finch.
• Adhere triangles to back of opening and leave alone.

• Adhere Finch (with triangles) to the center of Black Checkers paper.
• Sew along all four edges of Finch paper
• Add ribbons (slip stitch and gather satin ribbon)
• Fold your triangle flaps over and hold down with brads.
• Add title and randomly add brads as shown.

So what do you think?? Fun, right?

Here's another adorable page. This one was designed by Tiffani Smith, and she used Mary Mary from the darling new Quite Contrary collection.

Here's the supplies you'll need:
• 1 Mary Mary "Beautiful" So Cute
• 1 Mary Mary "Beautiful" Gorgeous
• 1 Mary Mary "Best of Friends" Share
• 1 Mary Mary "Happy Birthday" Grown Up
• 1 Mary Mary "Sweetie Pie" Title
• 1 Mary Mary "Sweetie Pie" Tickets
• 1 Mary Mary "Sweetie Pie" Journal card
• 1 Mary Mary "Wonderful" Accessory Sheet
• 1 Blue Lush Ribbons

Additional supplies:
• Paper Trimmer
• Scissors
• Scallop edge punch
• Brown chalk ink
• Buttons
• DMC floss
• Pop dots
• Tape runner

Instructions:
Note: Ink the edges of all pieces before adhering to the layout. And use pop dots to raise the titles for added dimension.
• Place ribbon around bottom of picture, tie in a bow and trim ends. (Photo in sample is 7 1/2" square. However, it would also look pleasing with two 4" x 6" placed side by side or one on top of the other, with a minor amount of tweaking of the elements.)
• Mat photo with Grown Up paper, trim with scallop edge punch. Mat again with Gorgeous paper, trim within 1/4". Adhere to So Cute paper 3/4" from top and left edges.
• Cut 2 1/2" x 4" piece from Share paper (b side.) Trim left end in a "v" shape to create a paper ribbon. Adhere to layout on the right edge, centered from top to bottom.
• Adhere journaling blocks, title, ticket and buttons to layout.

....There now. Aren't we having fun? And for kicks, let's throw in one more!! Who cares how long this post gets, so long as it's brimming with great designs.

This is the final project we'll be presenting today. This is a darling album is from the Red Lush pack and uses the Red Lush album, designed by Jana Eubank.

Here's the supplies you'll need:
• 2 Lush Red "Damask" Paper (flocked)
• 2 Lush Red "Daisy" Paper (flocked)
• 2 Lush Red "Diamonds" Paper
• 2 Lush Red "Medium Polka Dots" Paper
• 2 Lush Red "Circles" Paper
• 2 Lush Red Ribbons
• 1 Lush Red Decorative Brads
• 1 Lush Red Rhinestones
• 1 Lush Red Printed Chipboard Alphabet Stickers
• 1 Lush Red Flocked Chipboard Alphabet Stickers
• 1 Lush Red Flocked Album
• 3 12" x 12" sheets of deep red cardstock
Also used: scissors, trimmer, adhesives

Instructions:
Cover: Mount 3.25" x 3.75" photo to Circles paper and adhere to page. Arrange title along the top of the photo using the Printed and Flocked Chipboards Alphabet stickers. Embellish letters with red rhinestones. Tie a length of red ribbon around lower portion of album. Cut out daisies from Daisy paper and adhere to page. Embellish ribbon bow with a decorative brad. Outline the edge of the cover page with a black pen two times.
General instructions for inside pages: Trace and cut all patterned papers using the chipboard album page as a template. The top portion of the page is 6" and the lower portion of the page is 2". Outline the edges of all album pages two times using a black gel pen. Adhere desired ribbons over the seam of the two patterned papers. On pages where it is cream on the top half, this is the album page "showing through." For these pages you will trace only the lower 2" portion, but still add a ribbon to cover the seam. All photos and journal blocks are mounted on the deep red cardstock. Cut out the designs from the flocked pattern papers to use as page accents. When you have finished assembling each page, embellish as desired with red rhinestones.
• Page 1 and 2 papers: Circles and Damask
• Page 3 and 4 papers: Damask and Daisy
• Page 5 and 6 papers: Diamonds, Medium Polka Dots, Damask and Daisy
• Page 7 and 8 papers: Damask, Medium Polka Dots a Daisy

We quickly became friends

So... perhaps you've heard about our Bus Tour.

Perhaps you haven't.

But word is spreading quickly, that's for sure.

Well we're gearing up for another excursion in just a few short weeks, this time northwest-ward. We can't wait to mingle with our Spokane peeps!

And remember when we gave a little sneak peek of one of the projects we'd be working on? *at the bottom of the post* And THEN we hinted that someone else was going to be there. Someone else super cool and super knowledgeable on the crafting industry.

Perhaps you've heard. Perhaps you haven't.

So who is it??? This video should really let the cat out of the bag—that is—if you didn't know already. We ran into this certain someone at CHA, and became fast friends. Give it a looksie:

That's right!

We're hosting Stacy Julian, of Big Picture Scrapbooking on March 23rd in Spokane, WA!

And she is just so much fun to be around. Watching the video most likely made that pretty obvious. So if you're anywhere near the area, you do not want to miss this.

Other highlights include classes taught by our very own Lindsey Fillmore and Sandy Cottle, our OMC Creative Director!

You want more info, don't you? Well, just give this a little clicksy: Spokane Tour.

Happy weekend! And happy crafting!

P.S. Like this video tutorial? View tons more on our YouTube channel!

...And...stay tuned for pictures of our AWESOME new warehouse. You won't believe how great this place is.

Orange you cute?

Wednesday, March 10, 2010

Yes, indeed! We think this card speaks for itself. Especially with the way it sports that Prima monarch embellishment.

Yummy.

And isn't it just the loveliest combination of colors?

Sometimes it's hard to stop gushing.

Happy crafting!

A little more Lucy Bird for ya'

Monday, March 8, 2010

Happy Monday!

Last week we got an overwhelming gushing of love for this card, featuring Lucy Bird by Imaginisce.

Well there's more where that came from. Get ready to dote on this sunny layout, also featuring the same glorious paper pack!

Cute, huh? Want to see some close ups of the intricate details?

If you have any questions about this layout, feel free to
e-mail Lindsey at lindseyfillmore @ yahoo . com (but with no spaces).

Happy sunshine!

A glimpse at what we're saying goodbye to

Friday, March 5, 2010

Hmmm...so perhaps that last post was a little precocious. Since then, mother nature decided to dump a whole new load of snow on us here in Utah, spoiling any and all bouts of spring fever. Darn.

Oh well. At least we can still look at those cheerful cards in hopes that Spring will return eventually. And glad to hear that so many of you liked them too!

Well for those of you who did read our post on Wednesday, OR who receive our e-mail ads, then you know we're moving to a new home. (And YOU get to benefit with HUGE savings all weekend! Enter MOVE20 at checkout for 20% off EVERYTHING! How's that for the whole kit and caboodle? Head over to shop now!)

We're hoping that as early as next week we can put down our roots on our new turf. And boy are we excited! It's going to be a castle compared to where we are now. Here's a little glimpse of what we're leaving behind. Feel free to be amazed by the...er...primitiveness of our current dwelling place for the last year or so. Not to mention the fact that everyone steps on everyone's toes since it's been so cramped. It'll be nice to have some breathing room.

These first pictures feature the outside of our warehouse/bungalow, with the little doohickey we use to transport packages from the upstairs to the ground, and vice versa. We've often joked about how much cooler the whole place would look—if it were on a port in Seattle somewhere. Don't you think so too?

Aaaaaaand, the inside. In all its glory.

So needless to say, some partings are easier than others. And wait til you see our new place—it's quite the looker. (Pictures to come soon!) The new abode will be much more accommodating to our needs. Which in turn will help us SERVE YOU BETTER! Hooray for improvements, right?

So before we wish you well for your weekend, we'd just like to show off one of the awesome projects our lucky crafters in Spokane, WA are going to be working on in a few weeks, when our Craft Bus rolls into town. These are Sizzix gift boxes using Graphic 45's awesome new pack Le' Romantique. They'll also be creating adorable matching tags, however we'd rather keep you in suspense about those. And guess who else is going to be there???

Yes yes, exciting things are taking place at OMC.

Happy crafting!
