Introducing Our First OMC Spotlight...

Saturday, August 28, 2010

I am so happy to have been chosen for this spot in your Customer Spotlight! I have been a seamstress for 43 years since I was 11 years old I have been sewing my own garments and I had always been meticulous about documenting my photo albums long before "SCRAPBOOKING" became popular in 1997 was when it reached Canada. I have been creating scrapbook albums since then and my only tools that I had back then were Rubber Stamps, Stencils for tracing and cutting the photos and mats, and those Decorative Scissors (Gotta love those things) . I have also done Paper Tole, Tole Painting, Macrmae, Ceramics, some jewlery making and card making.... but my passion is Scrapbooking. I also taught scrapbooking for 3 years and have conquered the technique for making Tear Bears and their clothing. In fact I have perfected the creation of them to a level of perfection. I am a perfectionist in all that I do from housework to my beloved scrapbook pages and cards.

Since I live on a small island in Canada called Prince Edward Island I am limited to the access of scrapbooking supplies here and the nearest Craft Supply store from me is a Michael's Craft store which is a 60 mile car ride one way. So I am so thrilled that I can now sit at my computer at any time of the day or night and the supplies that I desire and need the most is only a click away. Oh My Crafts has become my main source for my supplies and always has the best deals on Cricut Cartridges. I have been known to give their website info to customers in the Michael's Craft stores who have been buying Cricut Cartridges. Sorry Michael's but we have to be loyal to our own check books and I can get 3 and sometimes 4 cartridges at OMC for the price of 1 at this retailer. I also love the fact that I get these items delivered right to my front door. The only thing I really need for these items some times is Patience!!! I have purchased everything from OMC from my cricut cartridges, to dies , to the famous Cinch Machine, and my newest additions are my addiction to the Tim Holtz destressing inks. My dream is to be on one of their cruises some day and I would love to be able to teach a class on one of these cruises.

Thank you OMC for this opportunity to be in your Customer Spotlight and Thank you for supplying all us crafters with the products and the prices that we all love and can't resist. Your Customer Service is also second to none and you are one of the companies who truly do stand behind your products and services. I am responsible for adding several Canadians to your list of customers as I sing your praises and pass along your webiste info to everyone and I am the reason for my daughter, my step-daughter and several friends purchasing from your company.
A very Loyal and Addicted Customer,
Brenda Gallant

We asked Brenda the following questions to get to know her crafting style!

1.  What do you craft? Cardmaker, scrapbooker, etc.  I do both but Scrapbooking is my passion!

2.  Favorite technique or tool you use? MY favorite tool is my Cricut Machine, My enlarged cartridge library, my inks and chalks. I love Prima Flowers and  love Bling!

3.  How long have you been crafting? Since I was about 12 years old. I have been scrapbooking for the past 13 years and I usually scrapbook daily!

4.  How long have you been an OMC customer? For the past 3 years. One day I will add up my reciepts (which I have kept everyone) and they will dictate just how often I shop with OMC! I love to shop with this company!

5.  What are your favorite products you can find at OMC? I would have to say the Cricut Cartridges. But I also love the Tim Holtz inks and refills and I have been expanding my collection of these!!

6.  What is your favorite thing about OMC? I really LOVE their prices and the 20% coupon. It is really a bonus.  Their CUSTOMER SERVICE is SECOND to none!! They have great customer service!!

7. Favorite quote or phrase? I would have to say my favorite quote is .... "There is a Princess in every girl" and my most favorite one is .... "Always believe in your dreams".

Check out some of Brenda's projects!

WOW! Thank you Brenda for all you create and for being such a fabulous customer!

Halloween is just around the corner, and we want to scare up some fun ideas for the holiday.  We decided to share some spooky Halloween Cards created by our own OMC designer, Julie Hafen! And of course, we have instructions to go right along with them.

Created by: Julie Hafen

Cosmo Cricket Jack’s World Clear Stamp: You’re Invited
                          Pebbles Metallic Cream Chalks: Grey
Glass Effect Gel: Crystal Clear (traced over BEWARE)
                          Craft Ribbon

Cuts:                  Cricut: Happy Hauntings (BEWARE)
                          Cuttlebug: Halloween 3x3 Die: Beware
                          Purple Bazzil Paper:  9x5½
                          Black Bazzil Paper: 4x5
                          White Bazzil Paper: 3½ x4

Instructions:      1. Glass Effect Gel over BEWARE for added dimension (it will need some time to dry)
2. Score the purple cardstock at the center point to form a card
                          3. Stress the edges of the white cardstock with ink
                          4. Stamp ‘You’re Invited’ on top left corner
                          5. Use the cream chalk on the front of the white cardstock to give it that dirty look
                          6. Punch holes in Left and Right side (I used the Crop-A-Dile Pink Punch)
                          7. Use craft ribbon to weave in and out of holes
                          8. Adhere black then white cardstock to card
                          9. Adhere 2 skulls together then attach to the card
                          10. Use a heating tool to smooth out BEWARE once it dries, as it will curl slightly
11. Adhere BEWARE

ENTER IF YOU DARE Card

Making Memories Toil and Trouble: Paper Pack, Brads, and Rosette sticker
3-D Foam Squares
Tim Holtz Distress Ink: Pumice Stone

Cricut: Happy Hauntings cartridge
Cricut Cuts:         ENTER if you DARE phrase 3”

1. Cut and score all paper to specified dimensions

4. Ink the edges of the purple strap
5. Adhere purple strap to envelope and attach Velcro
6. Adhere ‘ENTER if you DARE’ and cut lettering to allow card to open (my cuts are between the T and E of ‘ENTER’ and between the D and A of ‘DARE’
7. Punch holes for your bat brads and attach the brads
8. Cut 2 pieces of tulle and tie a knot in the middle of each piece, place some adhesive on the card and place the tulle in an ‘x’ across the adhesive
9. Place the Rosette sticker on top of the tulle
10. For the card invite, stress the edges of the orange and striped paper with ink
11. Cut the lettering out of black vinyl and place on card
12. Attach piece of tulle to card with a staple
13. Adhere 3-D Foam squares to back of orange paper and attach to striped paper for dimension
14. Place card inside of envelope and you’re ready to hand out your party invite

Back to the Books

Wednesday, August 4, 2010

It's that time of year again - buying supplies, backpacks, and clothes... Yup! It's Back to School time!  And to get you excited we have some fun projects and layouts from Making Memories!

First we have a cute project book.  What better way to save papers and projects than in a cute bound book?

Each school year is a new adventure for kids.  It's fun to preserve those first memories for them as they grow older, grade by grade.

So many pencils, so little space!  Keep them all handy in this adorable little pencil holder.

Boys will be boys!  Here's a cute boy layout with a sporty theme.

And we can't forget the girlfriends!  What would we do without them? :)

What better way to keep all your supplies in one place then with a nifty supplies box!  With such a cute design, it doubles as an art piece!

Of course we have to scrap the sports!  There's always time to cheer on our favorite teams, right?

And last but not least, graduation!  All those school memories may be coming to an end, but just imagine what the future has in store!

And we know you're curious, so here are the coupon codes!

BACKTOSCHOOL - 20% off any order
SCHOOLSHIP - FREE US50 Standard Shipping on orders $25+

Now, there is something else rather exciting coming up here at OMC...

The Slice Elite!

The Slice Elite now cuts more precise so your die-cuts look even better, it cuts up to 40% faster, AND it can cut through thicker materials (up to twice as thick). The Slice Elite works with all your Design Cards and Accessories and comes in original blue and pink.  But do you want to know the best part about the Slice Elite?  You never have to adjust the blade settings - the machine does it for you! Now THAT is a cause for celebration, is it not :D

Happy schooling!
