Page 1

From the Springtime paper pack, take the sheet that has 6"x6" paper sections on the back. Cut the side with the blue floral and green print on the Album die (that way it will fit the album perfectly). Ink the edges with the Jenni Bowling Dye Ink Pad before gluing down. Choose another paper from the Springtime pack and cut out a stamp image using the Sentimentals cartridge (size 6 ½"). Ink around all edges. Using the Seweasy tool,  stitch around the stamp paper with pink floss.  Glue the stamp to the main album page.

Cut “You are my” with the Alphalicious Cartridge (size 1 ½"). For the word "sun shine", use a combination of the sticker letters from the paper pack and the Thickers letter stickers. Cut a 5 ½" piece of blue pom pom ribbon and glue it along the bottom of the page.

Cut three circles out of different paper prints in three different sizes. Crumble the circles, layer them on top of each other, and glue together. Glue a button in the center of the flower. Attach flower to the left side of the phrase.

Page 2

Cut the polka-dot paper using the Album die, ink the edges and glue down on the chipboard. Cut out a frame accent using the Accent Essentials Cartridge (size 4 ¾"), ink the edges and glue on the right side of the page about an inch from the bottom. Place circle sticker on the left side of frame accent.  Attach 3 i-rock gems to the left side of the sticker. Glue the Fancy Pants Posie above the sticker and glue a button in the center. Take the “blissful days” sticker and put foam squares under it and attach the the bottom of the frame accent.  Cut a piece of pink ruffle ribbon and attach it along the bottom of the "blissful days" sticker.

Page 3

Cut a sheet of green print to fit the album, ink the edges, and glue it down. Cut out the journaling square with the light pink border and attach it to the bottom left side of the page. Cut out a stamp image (size 4), ink the edges, and layer it over the top right side of the journaling square. Cut a strip of pom pom ribbon and attach it to the left side of the journaling square. Cut two circles (one big, one small) out of the yellow print paper. Cut two circles of the striped vine paper and mount them in the centers of two yellow flowers. Attach a brad to the center of each flower. Cut out "sweet: from the "sweet spring" sticker, and attach it to the bottom right corner of the page along with the small sticker letters to spell out "sassy". Cut several stripes of pink paper for journaling and attach to the top right corner of the page.

Page 4

Cut a pink printed sheet with the Album die, ink and cover the album page. Cut a frame accent using the Accent Essentials Cartridge (size 3 ¾"), ink the edges and glue down on right side of the page. Attach the sticker tree on the left side of the page. Using a brown marker, make stitch marks around tree. Cut out two paper circles, one big and one little, and layer them to create a flower.  Attach a sticker to the center of the flower and glue the whole piece down. Use sticker letters to spell “smile” on the right side of the tree trunk.

Cut the paper with scalloped circles with the Album die, ink and glue down on the album page. Cut a 4 ½" x 5" square of the blue tear drop paper, ink the edges, and glue down in the middle of the page at a slight angle.

Attach a yellow scallop border strip across the bottom of the blue tear drop square. Cut the hot pink journaling card in half and attach one side under the blue tear drop square.

Cut three circles in different prints (small, medium, large), and hold them together with a brad. Glue to the bottom left corner of the blue tear drop square in a cluster along with two purple buttons.

Cut the purple polka dot paper with the Album die, ink the edges, and attach to the album page. Cut out a stamp image using the Sentimentals cartridge (size 4 ½), ink the edges and glue down at an angle on the page.

Emboss the Maya Road envelop using the Dots embossing folder and glue at the bottom of stamp image. Attach the long flower sticker over the bottom of the envelope. At the top of the sticker glue a strip of bright pink paper. At the bottom of the sticker glue a piece of green pom-pom ribbon.

It's a Bling Thing

Wednesday, February 23, 2011

All good bling needs a home! This shabby chic jewelry frame holder is just the thing! Glue on a few knobs, cut some vinyl to match your décor and before you know it, you have a designer jewelry frame!

Supplies Needed:

Sizzix: Eclips machine, Happi Shapes & Alphabet cartridge
Adams & Co: Oatmeal rectangle frame

Oh My Crafts Vinyl: Violet Flake, Black, Transfer tape

Tim Holtz: Curio Knobs

Adhesive: E6000

Frame:

1. Evenly space 5 knobs across the frame, mark lightly with a pencil.
2. Arrange knobs in order and set above marking.
3. Follow the directions on the E6000 package for adhering to a non- porous surface. Have a small wooden stick ready to use for placing a medium size dot of glue on the metal frame and on the bottom of the knob. Too much glue and it will spread out around the knob. This glue needs to time cure - 24 hours at least.
Vinyl:

1. Set machine to 12x24 for mat size and use vinyl setting.
2. Cut solid black letters at 2 inches on solid setting. Pick centers and weed around letters. Set aside.
3. Cut shadow out at 2 inches on shadow setting. This will automatically be larger than the solid letter so no need to manually adjust.
4. Layer the solid black letter over the sparkly purple vinyl using transfer tape. Use a new piece of transfer tape to lift the phrase from the liner backing. 5. Arrange words on metal frame and burnish in place.

Note: Any electronic die cutting machine can be used for this project.

Bunches of Springtime

What an adorable Paper Flower Bouquet!  OMC designer Lindsey created this cute paper bouquet to lighten up the Design Room here at our office.  We are oh-so-ready for spring!

Supplies Used:

Basic Grey : Hopscotch Paper Pack
Basic Grey : Hopscotch Buttons
Cricut Cartridge : Mother's Day Bouquet
Jenni Bowlin : Vintage Sew-On Buttons - White
Doodlebug : Craft Cup
Tim Holtz : Facets
Glossy Accents
Lolly Pop Sticks

Varying Ribbons

Lindsey used the Cricut Mother's Day Bouquet Cartridge to cut out several different flowers using the Hopscotch Paper pack from Basic Grey.

After assembling the flowers together, Lindsey glued Basic Grey and Jenni Bowlin Buttons to the centers of all the flowers.
She then attached all the flowers to lolly pop sticks.

Using the Hopscotch Paper, Lindsey measured and cut a piece to go inside the plastic section of the Craft Cup from Doodlebug.  She also glued a piece of paper to the back of a Tim Holtz Facet for a little bit of bling!  Using several varying ribbons, Lindsey tied the facet to the cup.

Finally, she put all the flowers in the cup and voilà! A beautiful paper flower bouquet!

It's the Little Things Layout
By Fancy Pants Designs/Jodi Sanford

Supply List:

1 4x6 photo, 2 wallet sized photos

It’s the Little Things Papers (1 of each): Four Birds, Hummingbird, Cards, Strips, Pecking Order and Spring Fever

It’s the Little Things Banner Chipboards

It’s the Little Things Chipboard Pieces

It’s the Little Things Design Embellishments

It’s the Little Things Brads

It’s the Little Things Paper Flowers

It’s the Little Things Buttons

It’s the Little Things Element Stickers

Artist Edition Filter Embellishments (Floral Set)

Artist Edition Specialty Trim (Black)

Artist Edition Chipboard Alpha (Black)

Artist Edition Metal Charms (#1183)

Embroidery Floss (Black)

Journaling Pen (Black)

Instructions:

1. Place your Four Birds paper down for your base piece.
2. Trim a 8 (w) x 7 (t) piece from your Hummingbird paper. Tear the bottom edge.

3. Place at the top of the base piece, 1 inch from the left side and place photo on top. Adhere once you have it placed where you want it.

4. Add embellishments: Pink ticket, ‘smile’ definition, rainbow, arrow, flower and specialty trim all in the lower right corner of your photo, slightly overlapping one another for dimension.

5. Next, from your stickers, take the two photo corners and layer one on top of the other and place in upper left corner.

6. Add two buttons to the left, lower side of the photo. Stitch on if desired.

7. Take the three small floral filter embellishments and spray with Glimmer Mist (I used color Vintage Pink). Then, once dried, fold into quarters. (Fold in half, then in half again.) Adhere the final fold in the center.

8. Place wallet sized photos, side by side, where you want them according to the above matte—do not adhere until you’ve then placed the scalloped sticker (below instructions).

9. From your sticker sheet, trim out (with scissors to leave the adhesive cover on) the gingham scalloped border to 5 inches wide and place on page using foam squares for a dimension effect.

10. Now, place the filter embellishments tucked behind the left side photo and adhere to base page.

11. Adhere the wallet sized photos using foam squares, with the bottom portion placed on top of the scalloped border. (We will add embroidery floss through the back of the photo later.)

12. Add title (ours is Marli), from your Black Alpha Chipboard slightly over the bottom of your photos, on top of the scalloped border.

13. From your banner chipboard pieces, remove six ‘ribbon cut’ banners and three triangle banners from the sheets. Place three banners, in a half circle shape, to the right of your main photo matte. You will place a triangle banner shape on top of the first and last of these banners.

14. Place three banner pieces, in a half circle, to the left of your wallet size photos. You will place the triangle banner on top of the center one here.

15. Add circle, with heart in center, also from the chipboard banners sheets as an accent to the first banner on the far left side.

16. Choose your metal charm and use the template to cut out a base for it. (We used the cards paper (line side) as our base.) Add a small heart design embellishment to the right side, add text and adhere to charm.

17. Lace black embroidery floss under the right photo, then lace through metal charm and tie a bow. You may want to glue the metal charm in place.

18. From the cards paper, trim the gold lined piece out for journaling. Trim this to fit beside the photo on the right side. Add journaling.

19. Trim, from your strips paper, the 100% CUTE strip..cut in half and place beneath wallet sized photos/scallop border.

20. From your papers Pecking Order, Spring Fever and remaining Humminggbird papers, tear miscellaneous pieces to fit at the bottom of the page. This doesn’t have a specific size, or look, just play with it until you are happy!

21. Add 3 inch piece of specialty trim on these placed papers, flush with the right edge.

22. Last (if desired), stitch with a sewing machine along the top of your main photo matte and stitch along the bottom area of the layout, over the torn pieces! Beautiful page complete!

It's Laundry Time!

Wednesday, February 16, 2011

Have you decorated every room in your house but the laundry room? If so, this sweet little pennant is just the thing to spruce it up. Made from canvas trading cards and a stencil that you cut on your Cricut machine, this pennant could say anything you wish. A little misting ink and fabric scraps and you’re done!

Supplies Needed:

Provo Craft:
Cricut Expression, Country Life Cartridge
Stencil Material
Ranger: Artist Trading Cards
Tattered Angels:
Glimmer Mist: Pink Bubblegum, Cherub Pink, Caribbean Blue, Cosmos, Tattered Leather, Chocolate Covered Cherries; Chalkboard Mist: Apricot, Mint Chocolate Chip, Cotton Candy; Misting Mat
We R Memory Keepers:
Crop-a-dile and small eyelets
Basic Grey: Blush Fabric, Hopscotch Buttons

Jenni Bowlin:
Vintage Style Buttons – Orange, Cream
Bazzill: In Stitch’z:
Scrapbooking Floss- Blue-Brown
Paper towels

Stencil:

1. Place stencil material on Cricut mat and cut letters 3”. Set the blade depth on 6 and the pressure on max. MOST IMPORTANT use the multi cut function. It will cut the letter twice. Because the stencil material is thicker than paper it needs to be cut twice to go all the way through.

2. Remove the plastic backing from cut letters and position on canvas.

Canvas:

1. Gently swirl mists before using to mix in the glimmer. If you shake the bottle, you will more likely have some splats of ink as you mist. Place canvas on misting mat and lightly spray from about 5-6 inches above the canvas. If it is a strong color, spray from a higher distance. Use paper towel and blot up excess ink. Set aside to dry.

  • a. L – spray first with Cherub Pink and then spray Pink Bubblegum over top. Mix colors to desired intensity.
  • b. A – spray with Chocolate Covered Cherries.
  • c. U – Spray first with Mint Chocolate and then darken with Caribbean Blue.
  • d. N – spray with Apricot.
  • e. D - spray first with Cotton Candy and then spray very lightly with Cosmos (this color is really intense).
  • f. R - spray with Tattered Leather.
  • g. Y - spray first with Mint Chocolate and then darken with Caribbean Blue.

2. Remove stencil. Allow canvas to dry. Do not remove paper backing from canvas.

3. Use the largest hole punch (3/16) on the crop-a-dile and punch 2 holes in each top edge of the pennant. Remember to leave room to set the eyelet.

4. Set eyelets in each hole.

5. Tear fabric scraps in about ½ x 12” strips. You will need 8 strips. We used 3 different fabric patterns.

6. Link pennants together with strips and tie knot in the middle of joined pennants.

7. Using the floss, sew button on to knot and tie with a bow.

8. Trim fabric strips and floss to desired length.

9. Hang.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Monday, February 14, 2011

We here at Oh My Crafts wish you a
Happy Valentine's Day!

Valentine Treasures
Valentine treasures are people who
have often crossed your mind,
family, friends and others, too,
who in your life have shined
the warmth of love or a spark of light
that makes you remember them;
no matter how long since you’ve actually met,
each one is a luminous gem,
who gleams and glows in your memory,
bringing special pleasures,
and that’s why this Valentine comes to you:
You’re one of those sparkling treasures! By Joanna Fuchs

Did You Know?

Sunday, February 13, 2011

Did you know that the Spellbinders dies are compatible with Sizzix Machines? Well they are!  The marketing department at Sizzix has provided some simple steps for how to use Spellbinders Dies with Sizzix Machines.

The Spellbinder dies are a two step process. You have to cut once and then run it through the machine again to emboss the dies. This is no different with the Vagabond; it is simply easier to operate.

To cut:

  • Solo Platform and Shim
  • Extended Adapter
  • Clear Cutting Pad
  • Thin Die (facing up)
  • Material
  • Clear Cutting Pad

In order to emboss, you need to create the following sandwich:

  • Solo Platform and Shim
  • Impressions Pad
  • Thin Die (facing up with paper cut out left in it)
  • Silicone Rubber
  • Clear Cutting Pad

Panel Width Height Score To the left of Upper Tab
1 Measure 7 7/8 5 1/4
2 " " 4 1/8
3 " " 4 1/8
4 " "
5a 3 7/8 4
5b 4 3/8 3 7/8

7a " 4
7b " 3 7/8
8a 5 1/4 4 1/8
8b 4 3/4 3 7/8

Scoring: all measurements are approximate depending up the file folder used. They are not all alike.
  1. Fold bottom half of file folder up to be even with the bottom of the tab. The pocket should be approximately 3 ¾”. Use Score-it board to make a straight even score across the lower third of the folder. (keep folder folded when scoring. Do not glue pocket together at this time.
  2. Follow chart above to make scores. Make the measurement from the upper tab edge. Fold after each score.
  3. When finished scoring and folding, the lower tab should be 3/8” shy of the right side.
  4. Using the blending tool and foam pad, ink black over all edges and folds. (this darkens the manila folder in case it shows through at the edges. Ink both sides of folder.

Papers:
  1. Decide all paper combinations first before cutting and gluing for the front and backsides. Lay out on table in the chosen order.
  2. Start with the front cover side of the folder. (this is the side without the pocket.) Follow the chart above and trim paper according to measurements. Ink edges with black ink.
  3. After preparing the 4 papers for the cover side, adhere paper with Glue Glider Pro. Trim excess paper off tabs and on the top and bottom if needed.
  4. Starting with panel 5a cut each of the 8 panels for the inside of the card. Set each panel in place and check the color/size combinations. They should alternate with a solid and print on each panel and then the opposite combination on the next panel.
  5. Ink edges.
  6. Adhere each of the top panels. Trim off excess around tab.
  7. Adhere each bottom panel and trim of excess around tab.

Tags:
  1. Using 4 different printed papers, cut the base 3 x 7 ¼”, ink edges with black ink.
  2. Trim coordinating solid cardstock 2 ¾ x 6 ¾”, ink edges with black ink.
  3. Adhere to tag base. Punch hole in top of tag when decorated and finish with ribbon.

Embellishment:
  1. Cut 2 -13” strips of sheer ribbon for ties of card.
  2. If using any brads on pockets, adhere them at this point before gluing pockets down.
  3. For any of the sticker medallions, mount on coordinating cardstock. In some cases the stickers may be mounted on more than one color of cardstock. Trim around sticker with scissors and mount with foam squares.
  4. Run strips of glue down each of the folds and along edges. Insert ties above and below tabs. Glue with a strong glue at ribbon. Fold up pocket and press together. Weight down and let dry.
